First Post!

My name is Jamie Sinclair and I’m a curler with big dreams of competing in the 2018 Olympics.

I was born in Anchorage, Alaska into a military family. My dad was a Fighter Pilot and home was wherever the Air Force sent us. We moved every few years never really knowing where we were going next.

My dad taught my brothers and I how to curl when I was 9. Curling quickly took over my life. If you wanted to find me I was either at school or at a curling club somewhere.

I have always dreamed of competing at the Olympics. Every competition I ever did was a stepping stone to the Olympics. When I finally graduated from University, (it took a bit longer than scheduled with all my competitions), I moved to Minnesota to train fulltime at the Olympic Training Site for curling.

My team is so close now we can taste it. We have earned our spot at the Olympic Trials in November. Three teams will compete in a tripple round robin, winner goes to the Olympics … We are that close, a one in three chance to represent our country at the Olympics! It would mean the world to me to be an Olympian, I can’t even describe it, it’s everything.

From now until the Olympics trials we will continue to train hard, both on and off the ice, technical, mental and physical. Our first competition is August 24th so our plan is to ramp up the intensity as we approach the trials in November.

Curling is my passion, I love everything about the sport. I love that anyone at any age can play the game. I want to help grow the sport of curling so I created a You Tube channel that teaches curling skills and gives you a bit of a look into my life as an athlete. Check it out at “Curl Up With Jamie” – catchy title so you don’t forget it.

I will be posting Blogs and Vlogs to keep you in the loop as to how my run to the Olympics is going. I hope you guys follow along and join me on this journey!
